All of the information wrt the PRC 11/12 May is at

the written report, Peter's talk, my comments to the closed session and
the PRC recommendations. For the TPC the recommendation reads:
"7.2.2. TPC
The PRC congratulates the LC-TPC collaboration for the successful
operation of many small prototypes, both with GEM and Micromegas
detectors, and for the interesting developments with silicon pixel
readout. The PRC recommends that the organization be strengthened to
coordinate the worldwide R&D effort towards a TPC detector for the ILC.
The PRC encourages efforts on simulation studies, in particular as they
may provide a crucial input for the eventual choice between detector
options. The PRC supports the large prototype detector as the next major
focus of R&D that is expected to be ready for operation by the end of
2007. The project will therefore be reviewed at the PRC 65 meeting
(i.e. in 2 years)."
In the discussion, it was said that the PRC is a valuable review body
for us at the moment and we should keep this tradition until the ILCGDE
creates a new system. The reports can be used for other review bodies as
well. To the question how serious the milestones are taken by the PRC,
it was said that they realize that the time schedule has to be
renormalized once in a while (e.g. ILC startup 2015->2016->etc).
For the LP finances, RS said he will be putting together the info
collected a month ago from several groups (in addition some more money
may appear, in the US for example) and start iterating with the
relevant people. But first we have to know what we want to build for the
LP before we can know how much money will be needed
2.Thoughts about the electronics (foil#4)
-----------------------------------------------------
Leif and Luciano reviewed the ideas for the Altro-LP application.
The basic Alice configuration of 128 channels/board and 10bit ADCs will be
kept, the tail-compensating functions (needed for MWPC) disabled. The
first ideas of chip and board have evolved toward flexible connectors
between pads and electronics because the new Altro preamp has very low
noise (with 10cm connectors the total noise would be around 250
electrons). Leif and Luciano will present more details with drawings at
the next phonemeetning 2 weeks from now.
For the new programmable shaper (in 0.13\mu technology) can
adjust the peaking time: 25 to 100 ns (FWHM 45 to 150 ns) for example.
Madhu suggested that a fast shaping time is not necessary: he will send
an email with the options for different gases and technologies
(gem/micromegas). Luciano said this is an important fundamental decision
(since the slower the easier). The final design of the new Altro chip
should be ready by September; we have understand the cost-sharing for the
subsequent submission.
3.Thoughts about the endplates (foils#5,6,7)

Dan showed an next iteration with curved panels/sectors.
He noted that the current iteration is lacking 1) flat sections on both
the frame and panels for the purpose of precision alignment, 2) an o-ring
seal to be located on each panel, and 3) details of the method for
attaching the panels to the frame.
The idea tests the positioning of panels/sectors using a mechanical
structure for positioning the sectors (in Aleph it was called the
"wire-chamber support frame", see foil#19 of the agenda-slides). There
was some discussion that the panels are too small, since bigger ones will
likely be used for the LCTPC. Also the panels need to be larger to
accommodate the electronics connector for 6mmx1mm pads (considered at the
moment); interaction Dan <-> Leif/Luciano will clarify this. About the
non-instrumented areas, there was agreement with Dan that an
E-field-defining conductive surface of the appropriate shape is needed to
eliminate E-field distortions. Dan proposed that we strive for a hard
agreement by end/2006 on all endplate details (shapes, mechanical
tolerances, funding).
4.Future phonemeetings (foil#8)
----------------------------------
The bi-weelkly phonemeetings was considered appropriate for now.
The next two will be 5 July and 18 July (Vancouver).
At the next meeting (5 July), we will have
----continued discussion about the endplates,
----a more detailed LP electronics proposal by Luciano and Leif,
----a discussion about R&D plans for the LP by Takeshi
(he sent around the preliminary version, please give him your
feedback).
After Vancouver, there are the following possibilities, in addition to
phonemeetings (which will continue):
-Paul proposes a WP#1 meeting in Paris in September.
-The annual Eudet meeting will be in Munich 18-20 October.
-The European LC workshop is in Valencia 6-10 November.
There was more discussion about a Paris meeting. There was agreement
that a general face-to-face meeting will be important, but there
is worry that September will be too early for a general meeting since our
endplate/electronics ideas are in a state of flux and the fieldcage ideas
will not be ready. Of course Paul can organize a meeting of specialists
to discuss ideas, and report at one of these conveners meetings for
further iteration.
