study of 3 ILD ECAL cooling systems:
A) one 6mm pipe per column to exterior. Total xsec for 3 barrel modules ~ 14.4 cm2
- limited heat extraction ~ 15W/module
- each column can be turned off individually in case of problem
B) one 15mm pipe per module to outside, small branches to each column. 3 barrel modules ~ 15 cm2
- extract up to 150W/module
- smaller # of pipes to outside: simpler
- can only shutdown entire module in case of problem

C) like B, but with pneumatic valves in ECAL-HACL gap allowing per-column control.
- takes significant space in gap: enough space left for electronics?

question: do we need per-column control of cooling?
answer not clear... some sort of risk analysis is required: # of connections, # of columns affected by leak in any of those connections, and so on... will think about it, and get answer by July meeting.
showed plan for extraction of cooling pipes to exterior in both barrel and endcap: close contact with ILD integration group.
long alveolar structure: tool ready for extraction of core (after snapping of "languette"), will extract next week.
